Confidence can be automatically integrated across two visual decisions.

چکیده
Humans can estimate their confidence in making correct decisions, but these judgments are biased by other estimations, an effect known as leak. However, it remains unclear whether this arises automatically. Here, we address issue having participants make two visual decisions and give ratings for one or both within each trial. Using the well-known interaction between task difficulty response accuracy a proxy confidence, found that decision were greater when was also associated with even latter not explicitly rated. For of tasks, leak occurred knew advance no rating would be required task. Our results support idea automatically integrated across decisions. Can Decision Procedures be Learnt Automatically?
In this paper we present an investigation into whether and how can decision procedures be learnt automatically. Our approach consists of two stages. First, a refined brute-force search procedure applies exhaustively a set of given elementary methods to try to solve a corpus of conjectures generated by a stochastic context-free grammar. The successful proof traces are saved. In the second stage,...
متن کاملCan medical decisions be standardized? Should they be?
After a variety of regulatory and payment schemes have failed to stem the rising tide of health care cost, the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989 mandates the creation of a system of decision rules called practice parameters for appropriate medical action in many circumstances. A large body of practice guidelines already exists, but lacks the internal coherence required of a policy tool....
متن کاملCan research and care be ethically integrated?
Medical ethics assumes a clear boundary between clinical research and clinical medicine: one produces knowledge for the benefit of future patients, while the other provides optimal care to individuals right now. It also assumes that the two cannot be integrated without sacrificing the needs of the current patient to those of future patients. But integration could allow us to provide better care...
متن کاملConfidence in Interactive Decisions
When the conditions of a competitive market are simulated in a game, the number of people deciding to enter each round approaches the game-theoretic equilibrium after a few rounds. This occurs even when there is no communication between players, and the only feedback on each round relates to the number of entrants. However, in real markets entry is generally too high, resulting in too many star...
